- How did you get your start?
I started working on cars with my dad who was a drag racer and car enthusiast in his garage. I started as a General Service Technician then became a Mechanic. I later became a Service Advisor and eventually a Store Manager.
- What’s your favorite auto repair to complete?
Repairs usually indicate that something wasn’t maintained properly and no one likes those. I prefer that people maintain their vehicles regularly to avoid costly repairs.
- What’s your favorite type of vehicle to make repairs on?
Any kind. I enjoy the diversity of working on many different makes, models, and years.
- What are the qualities a Sun Auto Service technician possesses?
Our technicians possess great attitudes and a willingness to learn and grow with the ever-changing automotive industry.
- What type of training do your technicians need to complete? What’s included in this training?
There is no substitute for experience, but we offer on the job training including an apprenticeship program. To start in the industry, you need a general understanding of how cars work, and a positive attitude geared towards helping people get where they need to go.
- What’s the most commonly asked question you get about automotive repair?
“How much does it cost?” and “Do [we] offer financing options?” We understand that repairs can be costly and often unexpected, which is why we try to make the experience less of a burden by offering financing and other flexible payment options.
- If you could dismiss one myth about automotive maintenance/repair, what would that be?
The biggest myth I often encounter is that there is a belief that you can plug into a cars’ computer and it will tell us everything that we need to know about what is wrong with a vehicle. While technology on vehicles is getting better and better, this is simply untrue. For example, getting a check engine light “code scan” is a very different thing than having someone perform an actual diagnostic to determine the cause of why the check engine light is on. A diagnostic requires specialty tools and equipment to perform testing. You can get a code scan from anyone but that doesn’t completely isolate the issue. A technician will still have to perform testing to figure out the exact cause of failure.
- What is your favorite part of the job? Your favorite part about working for Sun Auto Service?
My favorite part of the job is working with and helping people get their car repaired so they can get back on the road safe and with confidence.
- What’s the number one tip you would provide to car owners about maintaining their vehicle?
You cannot over maintain a vehicle. Maintenance is your best protection against costly repairs.
As Aaron said, maintenance is the key in extending the life of your vehicle and preventing extensive repairs. We offer all kinds of preventative maintenance services including oil changes, coolant flushes, transmission flushes, and belt and hose replacements, plus so much more. If your vehicle needs repair, our certified technicians are qualified to perform those, too. No matter what kind of service your vehicle requires, the service team at Sun Auto Service is here to help. You can find our location at the corner of Buffalo Dr. and Washington Ave. in Las Vegas.
